Privacy and analytics

The comparison tables and the picker work entirely in your browser, with no account, no sign-in and no form. What leaves your browser is a page view count and a handful of named interaction events with fixed properties, described below.

Analytics

The site uses a self-hosted Plausible Analytics instance to count page views and six named interactions: answer_reached (a shortlist or comparison was shown), filter_used, sort_used, calc_run (the picker was run), outbound_commercial (a vendor link was followed, with the vendor name and the placement on the page) and data_export (the CSV or JSON was downloaded). Plausible sets no cookies and does not track people across sites.

The site is also prepared to load Google Analytics 4 with consent set to denied before the tag runs, so that no analytics or advertising cookie is set and no consent banner is needed. As of 2026-09-06 no Google Analytics property exists for this domain and the tag does not load; this page will be updated when it does.

The picker's choices (language, goal, budget, tutor preference) are used to filter a table already in your browser. The choices are sent as properties of the calc_run event so the operator can see which languages and goals people look for; the shortlist itself is not sent.

What is collected

Loading a page sends the normal request information needed to deliver it: the page requested, the referring page, your IP address and browser identifier. Plausible aggregates these into counts and does not store a per-visitor identifier beyond the day.

No account, name, email address or payment detail is needed to use any part of this site. There is no contact form; the contact page shows an email address and writing to it is entirely your choice.

Outside services a page contacts

Pages request web fonts from Google Fonts and the analytics script from pa.upjourney.com, the operator's own Plausible server. No other third-party request is made by a page on its own.

A vendor link leaves this site and sends the destination the ordinary request data for opening a web page; the vendor's own privacy terms then apply. Where a vendor runs an affiliate programme, the link may carry a referral identifier once that programme is joined; the affiliate disclosure page lists which links do. As of 2026-09-06 none do.

Your data and how to reach us

Plausible holds no personal record that could be looked up for a single visitor, so there is nothing to export or delete on request; the server access logs are rotated within thirty days. Email sent to hello@whichlanguageapp.com is kept in the operator's mailbox for as long as it takes to act on it and can be deleted on request.

Questions about this page go to hello@whichlanguageapp.com. The operator is Adrian Nutiu, an independent publisher based in Romania, subject to the EU General Data Protection Regulation.
